About the Author

Keith Catone is the Executive Director of CYCLE — the Center for Youth and Community Leadership in Education — which is part of Roger Williams University, located at the University College campus in downtown Providence. Previously, Keith was Associate Director for Community Organizing and Engagement at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform (AISR), where he managed AISR's technical assistance and capacity building support for community organizing and engagement in Pittsburgh, PA and the New England region. He also assisted on research projects related to education organizing and engagement and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Education. Prior to joining AISR, Keith was the project director for the Youth 4 Change Alliance in Providence, Rhode Island, and before that, he taught high school social studies at Banana Kelly High School in the South Bronx and co-founded the New York Collective of Radical Educators, a citywide teacher activist organization. Keith serves on the board of directors of the Education for Liberation Network. He holds an AB in public policy from Brown University, and an EdM in school leadership and EdD in culture, communities, and education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and was a recipient of the 2015 Division K Teaching and Teacher Education Outstanding Dissertation Award. Born and raised in Rhode Island, he currently lives there with his partner and son.
